A short drive north of Pogradec and a climb through the village of Lin lead to one of the Albanian shore’s most important archaeological sites. On the peninsula’s hilltop lie the remains of an Early Christian church founded in the mid-6th century, closely related in form and decoration to the early basilicas across the lake. The highlight is the preserved mosaic pavement, composed of detailed geometric patterns together with plant, bird, and animal motifs. The mosaics are delicate heritage rather than an open playground: follow site instructions, remain on permitted paths, and never step onto exposed decorated surfaces. The hilltop also commands a wide view over Lin and the lake, making the walk rewarding even before the archaeology is considered. Combine the visit with time in the village, and check local opening or access arrangements before travelling because conservation needs may affect what can be viewed.
