Uçkat 1

About this place

Uçkat is a traditional beach area on Pogradec’s own lakeshore, close to the city rather than in the mountains above it. For generations, this part of the waterfront has been connected with swimming, fishing, summer gatherings, and the everyday relationship between local families and the lake. The setting is simple and local: clear freshwater, an open view across the lake, and easy access from the urban waterfront. At community events, older lakeside traditions may return through children’s games, swimming or canoe activities, and demonstrations that recall how previous generations enjoyed and worked beside the water. Visit Uçkat as part of a walk or bicycle ride along Pogradec’s shore, especially on a warm afternoon. It offers less of a formal attraction and more of something essential to understanding the city—a lived beach where memory, recreation, and lake culture continue to meet.
